FRESH OFF THE BLOCK
On the heels of the 40th anniversary of the Air Force 1s, Nike and City Gear joined forces with a mission to encourage Gen Z to show off how their communities and passions influence their unique style and individuality. With that, my team and I created Fresh off the Block – a platform that positioned City Gear as the go-to retailer for trendsetters and sneakerheads with Nike as the key driver.
Many aspects of our lives are defined on the blocks that raised us and somewhere down that block is a City Gear. So we returned to the block to uncover fresh stories of neighborhood tastemakers who always put on for their city. Knowing that community is such an integral part of Gen Zs ethos, we sought to tell the stories of people who are deeply rooted in their communities and making an impact.
The content series, produced in partnership with Nice Kicks, takes viewers to a new city in each episode to explore the area’s impact on the music scene, basketball, personal style, and the community organizations that keep the city going.
