AFROFUTURISM

The Black Ball is an annual fundraising gala benefitting Keep a Child Alive, a non-profit organization founded by Alicia Keys. Their mission is to realize the end of AIDS for children and their families in Africa and India.

The event’s theme was Afrofuturism - an arts and cultural movement and perspective which helps us imagine a more enlightened, egalitarian world for black people, and ultimately everyone. The night celebrated the ingenuity, creativity, and talent of Africa’s entrepreneurs, artists, designers, musicians and activists.

Working closely with Mogollon we developed the creative for the event. The goal was to create something that felt African, modern and elegant. The design was centered around a modern take on patterns typically found in African textiles. These patterns were infused throughout the decor, print materials and screens in various colorways using shades of blue, black, white and gold.
